Yes, yes. St. Louis-style pizza is the best. Provel cheese is awesome, and the Cardinals are of course the best team in baseball with the world's best fans. It's settled. But is it so wrong to sometimes want a pizza with a little more oomph? When the craving for a thicker slice hits, Vito's in midtown is the place to go for its Sicilian pies. The thick crust, soft with just a little bit of crispness around the edges and on the bottom, is baked in olive oil — it soaks up this Mediterranean nectar like a sponge. The fresh tomato sauce has a slight kick of spice and oregano, and the lasagna-like pie is generously topped with fresh mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Vito's offers six versions of its Sicilian pizzas, but the best is the "Il Vacaro," a meaty concoction of hot Italian sausage, sautéed spinach and ricotta cheese. Even the most diehard Imo's lover has to admit this is some mighty fine pizza.
