Like any good neighborhood bar, the Haven (family owned since the late '40s) feels just like home. From the outside, the brick building's houselike constructs blend right in with the primarily residential south St. Louis neighborhood it serves. This is the kind of place that hosts a Santa Claus impersonator during the holidays, where you can enjoy a cold one and a pork chop while watching the Cardinals on one of several flat-screen TVs. Once inside the kid-friendly neighborhood pub, visitors can select from an array of brews and hot food, including appetizers, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches and entrees. Try home-cooked classics like lemon pepper chicken, or go for Grandma Gasperi's meatballs to accompany a pitcher. Better yet, split 'em with your neighbors.
