With set lists that can run the gamut from Radiohead to Motown jazz standards, Sky West brings a canny blend of lighthearted novelty and musicianship — a prerequisite for any entertaining lounge act worth its salt. Chris "Luppy" Swan heads up the trio on piano and vocals and deals out an infectious, positive energy that's bookended by accessible stage banter and solid playing on the part of bandmates Travis Mattison (guitar) and Drew Weiss (drums). Catch them at Jimmy's on the Park in Clayton, the Melting Pot in the Delmar Loop or Jive & Wail in Maplewood for a reminder that music shouldn't always be taken too seriously — and that in the right context, a swing version of a Led Zeppelin tune can actually work.
