Not everybody can make a living doodling their favorite long-established comic-book characters, but Yale Stewart has. Growing up in St. Louis as a fan of the four-color world, Stewart honed his craft at the Savannah College of Art and Design and launched the semi-autobiographical comic Gifted. But what's really made industry veterans take notice is his ongoing webcomic JL8, which depicts popular DC Comics characters like Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern as elementary school children. As the old Looney Toons stories did, JL8 blends adorably drawn moppets with a dash of adult humor. His art and storytelling for JL8 recently garnered him the opportunity to draw the adult versions of DC characters for a series of kids' books and also earned him a Harvey Award nomination for best online comics work.
