Attitudes Nightclub and Novak's Bar & Grill are the long-time giants of St. Louis lesbian nightlife. But instead of hitting the same two bars, grab your gals and try something new. As the Arch Rival Roller Girls enter their eighth season of throwing elbows and thrilling fans, this fiercely inclusive sport has gained a stronghold in St. Louis' LGBT community. The sports complex where home games are held has an in-house bar where you can grab a beer or something stiffer to watch Mayor Francis Slayer inadvertently side-tackle Chewblocka amid a storm of foul cursing you wouldn't hear in the dirtiest, most creative shipyard. Queer girls fill the stands at ARRG bouts, jeering on their favorite blockers, but people from all genders and sexualities appreciate the awesomeness and adrenaline of the sport. The short shorts, tattoos and general pageantry also attracts a diverse crowd. For the full queer experience, make sure you join up with the team at the after-party — usually down the road at Iggy's Mexican Cantina — where these girls will drink even the baddest dyke under the table.
