Best Ladies' Room

Plaza Frontenac

On the bottom floor of Plaza Frontenac, tucked beneath a staircase, sits a marvel of modern invention: a proper ladies' room. Back in the days when department-store shopping was a white-glove event and floorwalkers attended shoppers, the ladies' room was a plush place for the weary shopper to rest, typically on lavishly upholstered furniture. That concept fell away with bra-burning in the 1960s, clearing the way for metal stalls and hand dryers. However, women at Plaza Frontenac still enjoy ladies'-room luxury with comfy fainting couches, mirrors, wood panels and individual restrooms, each with a washbasin and a door that closes from ceiling to floor. Total privacy.
