As a city, we can no longer ignore the gem of a happy hour sitting right under our noses at Mango Peruvian Cuisine on Lucas Avenue. This year-old outpost of the original Shrewsbury location offers a regularly scheduled happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and a late-night happy hour, both of which provide ample opportunity to check Mango out. With a genuine, knowledgeable staff and fresh ingredients in both food and drink, the open, candle-lit restaurant takes no shortcuts on quality or service. Forget a footlong from Subway — for just $5 a pop you can try a wide variety of Mango's artistic appetizers, martinis, cocktails, margaritas and wine by the glass, while bottles of beer are $2 and drafts are $3. If you know what's good for you, however, you'll order the "Crackberry" martini. While the name alone should be enough to intrigue, the list of ingredients will surely close the deal: premium vodka muddled with fresh strawberries, basil, cracked black pepper and simple syrup. So call us Patrick Swayze, but we're telling you that nobody puts Mango in a corner. This happy hour is too good to be ignored.
