You start to understand how St. Louis institution Gioia's Deli has been around for so long when you pay a visit to its new food truck. A combination of tradition and innovation seems to be the key to longevity — after all, how many 96-year-old family restaurants get into the food-truck game? Co-owner Alex Donley was planning a second location, and he thought a mobile restaurant was a crazy idea at first. Lucky for us, he decided to run with it, and the Hot Salami Truck is serving Gioia's greatest hits all over St. Louis. The truck offers six different sandwiches, including Gioia's signature hot salami and the fan-favorite "Porknado" sandwich, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various locations in the city and county on weekdays. If you can't make it to the original Hill location at 1934 Macklind Avenue as often as you'd like, Gioia's food truck is the next best thing.
