Best Doughnuts

LaMar's Donuts & Coffee

Doughnuts seem to be one of the easier foods to make. You take some batter, throw it in boiling oil, glaze it and voilà! How could someone possibly screw that up, right? Well, the answer is out there. The world is full of mediocre doughnuts. You won't find any imperfect confections at LaMar's Donuts & Coffee. What you will find are fantastic fritters, blissful Bizmarks, sinfully sweet cinnamon rolls and 74 doughnut varieties. LaMar's was born in Kansas City in 1960, when Ray Lamar, who had begun frying doughnuts at the tender age of seventeen, decided to take an old gas station and turn it into a den of deliciousness. Most people can only guess what the doughnuts were like in the beginning — Ray passed away in 2005 — but to taste them now one needs only to hop in the car and drive to one of LaMar's two local franchises. The employees at both shops always seem to be in a good mood. You'd be cheerful too, if you worked in a LaMar's doughnut shop.
