Sam Cavato Men's Wear is not for the casual shopper. Cavato has been outfitting the movers and shakers of St. Louis since 1972 with Italian suits ranging from $800 to $4,000. It's the most personal service in town, and Cavato and his tailors take pride in their work. Cavato learned his trade in the '50s and '60s at Tom Houlihan's, the St. Louis' premier men's shop of the Mad Men era. You can find suits from Brioni — the brand Pierce Brosnan wore as James Bond, as did Daniel Craig in Casino Royale — plus Ermenegildo Zegna, Canali and Hickey Freeman. Cavato also offers custom-made dress shirts; it doesn't get more Master of the Universe than that. Better still, the shop will be keeping things classy for years to come — Cavato is grooming his nephew, Christopher Cavato, to take the detail-oriented men's store into the next generation.
