The Cheesecake Factory might as well be called the Everything Factory. The chain has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a bakery in Detroit in the 1940s. Now, at its opulent Galleria location, the menu is endless and covers all manner of culinary styles: pasta, burgers, seafood, tacos, Asian fusion, pizza, steak, Southern comfort — the list goes on. While mom-and-pop restaurant owners keep menus tight in order to make goings on manageable, that's not a concern at Cheesecake Factory, where service is run with the efficiency of an ocean liner. Waiters are in constant communication with the back of the house through headsets. Between the servers, busboys, hosts, managers and bartenders, it sometimes seems as though the customer-to-employee ratio is 1:1. Beyond the spectacle that is the Cheesecake Factory itself, the food is pretty tasty, too — don't miss out on the avocado egg rolls and the piled-high hamburgers. The cuisine is nothing unique, but it is consistent, and after a long day of maxing out the credit cards in the mall, it's nice to kick back and let the cheesecake industrial complex do its thing.
