Building on its 2008 Best of St. Louis honor in the sister category Best Beer Selection in a Bar, the Stable just keeps getting better. While the numbers at this Benton Park beer palace are impressive — 24 taps and 50 or so bottles — beer lovers know that numbers can deceive, and it's what is being served that matters. The Stable sets itself apart by pouring a steady diet of the highest quality craft beers, with a selection that changes every time a keg is emptied. (There's a reason the tap list is on a chalkboard!) Beverage manager Jerad Gardner has done an exceptional job sourcing rare and limited releases, and the Stable is now bringing in casks of real ale for occasional Firkin Fridays. Top it all off with the on-premises Amalgamated Brewing beginning to turn out solid German-inspired offerings, and the Stable has officially hopped to the head of the St. Louis beer class.
