Best Bar Food

O'Malley's Irish Pub

When you order food at a bar, you are committing to that bar. You have decided that this bar is special enough to dedicate at least the next hour of your life to it. O'Malley's Irish Pub is the type of bar that makes such investment worth it. It's small, dark, grimy and nestled deep on Cherokee Street's Antique Row, but damn it, it has the best bar food in all of St. Louis. The Gates (chicken wings), Basket (french fries) and Kerry Patch (chicken strips) are all on point. The classic Irish dishes — shepherd's pie, potato soup, corned beef and cabbage — are topnotch. But what sets O'Malley's apart is the Irish Nachos. Undoubtedly influenced by their neighbors farther down Cherokee Street, O'Malley tops a basket of homemade potato chips with the usual nacho suspects: a heaping scoop of sour cream, thick cheese and a more-than-sufficient helping of black olives and diced tomatoes. Order a frothy pint of Guinness or, if you prefer something lighter with your meal, a crisp pint of Harp's and you'll be stuffed until lunch tomorrow.
