The term "singer-songwriter" is a still a curse word in certain circles, conjuring an image of coffeehouse-dwelling, navel-gazing guitar slingers with reams of bad poetry to turn into song. A new group, St. Louis Songwriters Anonymous, hopes to change that perception, both with its cheeky support-group name and with collaborative shows. This week's Screw Your Resolutions show features a handful of local singer-songwriters, including Ben Sturdevant and Allie Vogler, who perform solo and as Ben & Allie. She mixes her rough guitar strums and tentative banjo plucks with a honeyed twang; he's a gentle picker with both folk and country punk in his veins. Together, they find a charming, handmade middle ground. Billy Croghan, LB Johnson and Michael Arnette will also perform.

Show Some Love: No polite coffee shop claps for these acoustic performers; hoots and hollers are encouraged.
