Hiking, running and bike rides around the neighborhood are all great spring activities, but they're in a lightweight division. The Banff Mountain Film Festival brings a more extreme strain of outdoor activity to your life. This traveling roadshow features short films that document high-octane activities such as wingsuiting through Chinese mountains ("Heaven's Gate"), whitewater rafting ("Cascada") and skiing the indoor mountains of Dubai ("Dubai: A Skier's Journey"). If you missed your chance to wow 'em at Sochi -- or at the neighborhood park 25 years ago -- these films fill a hole of entertainment and empowerment, without all the blood, sweat and probable broken bones. The festival visits the Hi-Pointe Theatre (1005 McCausland Avenue; www.alpineshop.webconnex.com/banff2014) at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday (March 26 and 27). Tickets are $15 to $20.
