The Philip Slein Gallery offers protective custody to a ragtag team of artists who refuse to play by the rules. From the cockeyed chupacabras of Bill Fick to the grungy graphics of punk poster designer Art Chantry to the popped-up postulations of Peregrine Honig (runner-up on Bravo's Work of Art: The Next Great Artist), The Return of the Outlaw (Printmakers) show gathers the crème de la crème of the underground art scene's highbrow lowbrows. The free opening reception kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in the Philip Slein Gallery (1319 Washington Avenue; 314-621-4634 or www.philipsleingallery.com). Frank Stack, Tom Reed and John Jacobsmeyer are among the other printmakers whose work is scheduled to appear. If you miss the opening, don't fret — the art will be incarcerated for a short, six-week term, remaining on the walls through Saturday, April 30. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, and admission is free.
