In these gluttonous media-consumption days, artists have to be feeling the pressure. After all, those of us who care are relying on them alone to leave behind something for future generations to "ohhhh" and "ahhhh" over — you know, like their version of the Mona Lisa or something (no big deal). But to get the attention of the masses, not only do artists have to create stunning works — like the African-inspired sculptures by collaborators Jenny Pohlman and Sabrina Knowles — but they should also graciously attend the opening receptions for their exhibits, to meet you and greet you and share their artistic insights. Pohlman and Knowles are doing just that on Friday, October 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Duane Reed Gallery (7513 Forsyth Boulevard, Clayton; 314-862-2333 or www.duanereedgallery.com), and they'll discuss their strikingly memorable pieces, which bring together metal, sculpted glass, beads and various other objects. Pohlman and Knowles' show remains up at Duane Reed through Saturday, November 25, and local artist Polly Saputo's exhibit runs concurrently.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Oct. 27. Continues through Nov. 25
