This 1st in a series of three lectures will focus on early American Cakes. Would you like your gingerbread with or without wood ash from the fireplace? Would you like your cake sweetened with carrots? Learn about measuring tools, ingredients, baking and social status, sailing vessels and nursery rhymes. Find out how time, events and technology influenced cakes and try some of George and Martha Washington's favorite desserts. Reservations are required and space is limited - For ages 18 and up
