American Idols Live Tour

7 p.m. Saturday, August 29. Scottrade Center, 1401 Clark Avenue.

For all of the hoopla surrounding the hosts of American Idol — who will replace Paula? Why is Simon such a dick? How does Seacrest keep his hair so perfectly mussed? — it's easy to forget that the juggernaut television show is primarily about the music. And furthermore, it's hard to argue with the show's ability to produce hit makers, from Kelly Clarkson and Chris Daughtry to Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood. As in years past, the top ten contestants from the show's just-wrapped season have teamed up for the American Idols Live Tour. The main attraction will be 2009 winner Kris Allen, but alongside Allen will be his runner-up, newly minted gay icon Adam Lambert, as well as neon-haired sprite Allison Iraheta. Expect medleys, duets and enough note-bending melisma to make Mariah Carey proud.
