All's Fair in Love

Sabrina is young and vibrant and in love with life. Fresh from a five-year stint in Europe, she's returned to America a polished and poised woman of the world. And she's also returned to find out if her girlish infatuation with David Larrabee, the scion of the Larrabee family who employs her father as a chauffeur, is worthy of an actual romance. David's older brother Linus, master of the Larrabee empire, is a commitment-phobic businessman who finds it entertaining to manipulate his brother and Sabrina's relationship with ironic detachment. But with someone as lively as Sabrina, can anyone really be all that detached? Samuel Taylor's serious comedy Sabrina Fair explores matters of class in America's supposedly classless society, and also provides a great deal of charming romance. The Theatre Guild of Webster Groves opens its season with Sabrina Fair at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (September 11 through 20), with an 8 p.m. performance on Thursday, September 17. Performances are at the Theatre Guild of Webster Groves (517 Theatre Lane; 314-962-0876 or www.theaterguildwg.org), and tickets are $12 to $15.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 11. Continues through Sept. 20, 2009
