Hail to thee, Golden Tee. Ensconced in taverns across the country, you are this generations pinball machine and bar-bet generator in one handy, slightly addictive video game. The games designers have stayed on the cutting edge for years with innovations such as the Golden Tee Gold Card, which allows players to save and update personal game stats on any Golden Tee console in the world, the ability to purchase custom in-game equipment and oddly amusing Easter eggs hidden in the virtual golf courses (Big Foot and groundhogs, for example). All of these elements hook real-world golfers, gamers, thirsty drunks, people on a first date the gamut of your usual bar denizens. And this Thursday through Sunday (April 15 to 18), the Golden Tee hordes will congregate at Teachers Billiards (291 Centre Pointe Drive, St. Peters; 636-441-9964 or www.teachersbilliards.com
) for the Missouri Golden Tee Championships
. Competition begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with the Closest to the Pin event ($10 to enter, payout to top four finishers). Friday brings the Blind Draw Doubles Tournament, and Saturday and Sunday are the Main Events (qualifying and finals rounds, respectively), the Golden Tee Singles Championship, which requires a $100 entry fee but that gets you a shot at the $3,500 in cash prizes to be paid out to the top 36 in the field. Admission is free for spectators, but if you think youre going to be the wise guy shouting Noonan! when people are putting, just stay home. People hate that guy.
