Perhaps one of the best known historic neighborhoods in St. Louis, Soulard is also one of the oldest. Providing housing and businesses for the burgeoning working class in Nineteenth century St. Louis, the neighborhood's varied housing stock makes for an interesting look at the different styles of architecture in the city. And of course, it is the home to one of the oldest public markets in America, Soulard Market. To the south, the largest brewery in the world, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery anchors the neighborhood. Home to a large Mardi Gras celebration every year, Soulard is an exciting urban neighborhood.
