A man attempting to retrieve his large and possibly malicious parrot nearly drowned in mud Sunday afternoon, creating what Belleville Fire Department described as an "unusual and dangerous situation."
According to a Facebook post by the fire department, "The gentleman went into the area to rescue his parrot who had inadvertently flown into the mud."
Belleville Fire accomplished a water-mud rescue at Bicentennial Park this afternoon at approximately 4:30 pm. Victim had to be rescued after becoming trapped up to the waist in the mud of a dredged lake. And yes, that is a parrot on his shoulders. @kmoxnews @CaseyNolen pic.twitter.com/A9tv7k7BYQ— BFD PIO (@BFDPIO) August 13, 2018
