Since he clearly needs a break from a government devouring itself with accusations of cover-up and criminal behavior, President Donald Trump is heading to, uh
, Missouri later this month. Here, he'll be a featured guest at a fundraiser for Attorney General Josh Hawley — a Republican who hopes to win a U.S. Senate seat even as the state government devours itself over his colleague and donor Governor Eric Greitens' allegedly criminal behavior
But entry to this St. Louis soiree won't come cheap: Tickets start at $5,000. And that's the low end.
A Joplin woman snagged an invitation to the March 14 event — she told the Springfield News-Leader
her friend received it in the the mail and let her photograph it — posted it on Facebook yesterday.
So, what does it take to land a swanky evening — at an undisclosed location and time — with Hawley and Trump? The top package costs $50,000, which gets you two spots at "Host Committee Roundtable" plus one photo — presumably to commemorate the night you paid a teacher's annual salary for appetizers and the lingering scent of suntan oil and steak
Going down the list, $25,000 provides two tickets to the VIP reception (and a photo) and a single ticket for the reception comes to $5,000.
Despite the indictment of the state's Republican governor, Trump's probably thrilled about the timing of all this. There is only room in the state for one guy wildly shouting "WITCH HUNT," and Greitens has dibs
. Trump can kick back, eat some KFC and enjoy someone else's crisis for a change.
