A man told police he was attacked by a stranger on Friday night in Tower Grove Park.

The nineteen-year-old victim claimed he was walking along the northeast corner of the park about 8:20 p.m. when an unknown assailant hit him in the back of the head. The two fought before the nineteen-year-old escaped and ran away. When he returned home, he discovered he had been stabbed in the chest during the scuffle, police say.

He was taken to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition. Police are not sure what prompted the confrontation and say the case is still under investigation.
