Set your DVRs: A new episode of Crime Watch Daily
, the Fox television show, will focus on the death of City Museum founder Bob Cassilly.
The episode is set to premiere this Monday, November 21, at 2 p.m. on Fox-2 (KTVI).
Albert Watkins, the Clayton attorney who is representing Cassilly's widow Giovanna, says that producers from the show were in St. Louis for "many, many days" this fall, interviewing numerous people associated with Cassilly and probing the details of his death.
The noted sculptor was found dead in his bulldozer just over five years ago at Cementland, his magnum opus project in north St. Louis. Authorities quickly labeled the death an accident, positing that his bulldozer must have rolled over and over before landing upright, leaving Cassilly dead in the driver's seat.
But the investigation was cursory at best, and Giovanna Cassilly has since raised questions about the crime scene
. An expert she hired has argued that medical evidence instead suggests that Bob Cassilly was beaten to death
— and a newly uncovered photo shows a bloody patch and a rock near the bulldozer. St. Louis officials admit they have retained no DNA evidence from the spot
, even though it was clearly marked as worthy of follow up.
Both Giovanna Cassilly and Watkins have been pushing for a thorough police investigation. And in addition to the weeks of attention from the Fox show, a New Yorker
writer has also begun to probe the case, Watkins says.
"The goal remains to bring to the attention of the authorities the importance of conducting a bona fide investigation into the death of Bob Cassilly," Watkins says.
