Tough break for all fans of The Princess Bride and professionally handsome man Cary Elwes: Elwes has canceled his Monday, May 4, appearance at Webster University's Moore Auditorum.
The actor was touring to promote his book As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride, which is packed with behind-the-scenes details about the making of the fan-favorite film. Emphasis on was.
There's no word on the reason for the cancellation. (Is he dead? Someone go get Miracle Max.) Left Bank Books, which was co-sponsoring Elwes' visit with the Webster Film Series, will contact everyone who ordered a copy of the book for signing about what happens next; if you've bought your tickets already, Brown Paper Tickets will issue refunds in three to five business days.
The only bright side here is that the WFS will go ahead with the planned screening of The Princess Bride at 6 p.m. Monday -- and admission is now free.
