Rosemary Nieters has lived on the same street in Dogtown for more than twenty years. She leaves her house at 6:30 a.m. every morning to get to work.

Tuesday morning was different.

"This is Dogtown neighborhood, I've lived here 22 years and never had such things happen," Nieters, 45, tells Daily RFT.

On Tuesday Nieters found a note on her car, which had been parked outside overnight. The note read: "Christmas is pure bred white nigger shit."

"It scared me quite a bit," Nieters says. "It made me shake all the way to work."

Nieters isn't the first to get this note. On December 19, Brian Villa found a note on his car near Tower Grove park that said, "Christmas is white nigger shit."

The note seems to be written in the same handwriting but with a different pen. Villa says he didn't see notes on any nearby cars.

Nieters grew up in Ferguson, and she says the note seems particularly threatening after the turmoil that followed the Ferguson shooting of eighteen-year-old black teen Michael Brown.

"With everything that's going on, it made me pretty nervous," she says. "I just have to understand that it's not personal. I think it's very random."

Nieters reported the note to St. Louis Metropolitan Police, who told her not to take it as a threat against her.

"He (the officer) seemed to be as baffled as I was," Nieters says. "Police said they hadn't seen anything like it."

Police did not immediately respond to Daily RFT inquiries about the notes.

Villa wasn't threatened by the note and didn't call police.

"I think it's funny," he says.
