A father shot two armed men, killing one, as they forced their way inside his family's home while aiming their guns at his teenage daughter Monday night, according to St. Louis police.
One of the suspected gunmen, Terrell Johnson, 31, of the 4500 block of Natural Bridge Road, died on the family's living room floor after the father, 34, shot him.
The second suspect, Cortez McClinton, 33, of the 3100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, kidnapping and armed criminal action. He is being held on a $1 million cash-only bond.
The teen girl and her father, as well as her mother and a five-year-old boy also inside the home, were not injured.
The seventeen-year-old girl originally went outside the home in the 4600 block of Newport Avenue around 11 p.m. Monday to retrieve an item from a car. Two gunmen approached her and demanded she walk back into the home with them, according to police.
The father saw his daughter with the two men and grabbed his gun, shooting the suspects as they entered the house. The mother, 34, also grabbed a gun and shot a round at the suspects; she did not strike them, police said.
After Johnson collapsed unconscious onto the living room floor, the second suspect escaped in Johnson's car, calling his brother to take him to the hospital.
