Update: A nineteen-year-old St. Louis man who was shot in the head while driving over the weekend has died, police announced this morning. Our original coverage of the shooting incident is below.
Police have identified the victim as Marcel Cornell, who lived on Horton Place in the West End neighborhood nearby to the site of the shooting. The suspect, officials say, is still at large.
The victim was reportedly driving by the intersection of Page Boulevard and Belt Avenue on Saturday afternoon when someone fired shots into his car, hitting him in the head and leg. Police say he was pronounced dead last night at 7 p.m.

Cornell is the 51st homicide victim in the city of St. Louis this year.
Original post, Monday, July 8, 2013, 11 a.m.: A twenty-year-old man was shot in the head while driving in broad daylight on Saturday according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The suspects -- unknown at this time -- reportedly fired shots at around 3:20 p.m. in the afternoon at the intersection of Page Boulevard and Belt Avenue.
Police say the victim was hit multiple times in the head and leg and was found seated in the driver seat of a vehicle. He was taken to a hospital and is clinging to life.
The police report from the weekend says the victim, who officials have not named, is in "critical/unstable condition, death imminent."
Police just confirmed to Daily RFT that the victim, as of this morning, is still in unstable condition.
Police say the vehicle was traveling west on Page Boulevard when a silver sedan pulled behind the victim's car and unknown occupants began firing toward the victim. The shooting happened in the city's Hamilton Heights neighborhood.
In the city of St. Louis, there have been a total of 51 homicides in 2013 so far.

Officers responded to the intersection of Page and Belt and upon arrival, observed the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his head and leg. The victim was seated in the driver seat of a vehicle. The victim was conveyed to a hospital and listed in critical/unstable condition, death imminent. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling west on Page when a silver sedan pulled behind them and the unknown occupants of the auto began firing shots towards the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
