Darnell "Chuckie" Vaughn, 29, has been charged with the double murder of Claudia Williams and Tasheera Johnson, despite still being at large. Authorities say Vaughn shot and killed the two women in the Ferguson townhome of  Williams, his estranged girlfriend, on August 31; Johnson's 1-year-old daughter was present at the time of the murders but was not harmed.

[UPDATED 10:49: Police announced that Darnell Vaughn called 911 from a hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and turned himself in. He's now in custody, awaiting extradition to Missouri.]

Police would not elaborate on the reason for the killing, saying only that that Vaughn and Williams were apparently "having problems." Vaughn has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

The reason Vaughn is still at large is in part due to his parents, Lois Adams and Darwin Vaughn, and a friend, DeAndre Galmore, who were allegedly acting in concert to help Darnell Vaughn elude the police. All three have been charged with hindering prosecution and are being held on $100,000 bonds.

The Ferguson Police Department is actively seeking Vaughn, whose distinguishing characteristics include long dreadlocks and an "STL" tattoo on his neck. The public is asked to contact Ferguson police at 314-522-3100 if they know where Vaughn can be found.
