Five More St. Louis Homicides Prompted By Food (Cheetos Murder Not Included)

It seems so senseless, it's almost unbelievable. According to the St. Louis police department, a man was stabbed to death Tuesday night in an argument over a bag of Cheetos.

Unfortunately, though, this week's incident only adds to a list of food fights turned deadly in St. Louis. Culling our news archives, we quickly came up with five somewhat similar murders.

Here they are in no particular order:

1. Murdered Over Rally's Cheeseburgers
Carl Sharp lost his life in the summer of 2008 after getting in an argument with his neighbor over a fast-food order. According to reports, Sharp feuded with the then fifteen-year-old Dominque Jacobs (right) over the quantity of his fast-food order. Had he ordered two or three cheeseburgers? After the argument, Jacobs allegedly rode his bike to Sharp's home and shot the 26-year-old father to death.

2: Imo's Driver Killed, Robbed of Pizza
Twenty-two-year-old Daniil Maksimenko was working his pizza delivery job this summer when he took an Imo's pie to a home in Hillsdale. Prosecutors say three men lay in wait. When Maksimenko arrived at the address, they shot him dead and ran off with the pizza. Charged with murder are Davionte M. Williams, 18; Chester Romelle Woods, 20; and Shermell A. Crocket, 20.

3. Shot Over Warm Can of Stag
Corine Jones was blasé about it when St. Louis police responded to a call to her home in December 2006. Yes, she'd shot Robert Jones, her husband of 25 years. Why? Because he'd given her a warm can of Stag beer, she told police. Corine soon became something of a national punchline, though her family never thought the killing -- or Corine's condition -- funny. She was still awaiting trial in 2008 when she died of complications from cancer and dementia. Family members said she was losing her mind long before killing her husband.

4. Girl Strangles Sibling Over Hamburger

The St. Louis medical examiner was baffled as to how a nine-year-old girl from north St. Louis died in December 2005. Then came a call from a social worker. The dead girl's twelve-year-old sister was in the psychiatric unit of an area hospital suffering visions and nightmares. She told the hospital staff that she'd strangled her sibling in an argument over a hamburger. The medical examiner confirmed that strangulation caused the death, and the sister was later charged with murder.

5. Blood-Licken Chicken
In September of 1980 Elroy Preston became enraged when two of his drinking companions -- Willie Richardson and Betty Klein -- ate some fried chicken he'd purchased during a long night of boozing. Preston stabbed both with a hunting knife in front of his brother and another witness. As the victims lay dying, Preston then took some of the chicken and reportedly dipped it in their blood and ate it. He currently sits on Missouri's death row.
