Police were called to the 1600 block of Billups Avenue in the Ville (above) at 4 p.m. Thursday for a reported robbery. Officers encountered a 37-year-old black man and a 20-year-old white man who were in the neighborhood to allegedly buy some PCP.

It did not go smoothly.

Police say that while the men were making the buy, the older man ended up in an altercation with one suspect, while another suspect hopped in the car with the buyers. Simultaneously with the fight breaking out and the car being invaded, a third man appeared from a nearby alley. He had a gun, and opened fire on the older of the two PCP aficionados.

Somehow the man was not injured by the gunfire. The car invader took over, driving the vehicle several blocks north to the 4400 block of Maffitt Avenue. He then forced the two victims out of the car and fled with their car.

Police continue to investigate the incident. No description of the suspects has been given, and no charges have been filed in the case. The incident report did not specify if the men ever acquired their PCP.
