  • Tracy D. Jones, murdered in the Ville Neighborhood last night.
Tracy D. Jones, 47, was inside a car with an unidentified 56-year-old black woman in the 1500 block of Whittier Avenue last night when unknown suspects opened fire on them. Jones was shot in the chest and back, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was shot in the thigh, and was treated and released at an area hospital.

Just four minutes prior to Jones' murder, a 29-year-old black man escaped injury when two men shot at him while he was in his car in the 4200 block of Aldine Avenue. The short distance between the two crime scenes -- barely a block apart -- has detectives investigating the possibility that the two shootings are related. Two suspects, a 24-year-old black man and a 19-year-old black man, have been apprehended in the Aldine Avenue shooting. No charges have been filed in either case, but the investigation is ongoing.
