In essence, 32-year-old Janae Helgerson of Boise, Idaho, pleaded guilty today to stealing egg cells from Missouri women.

Several years ago, she was running a fertility company in Idaho called Midwest Egg - a sort of middleman operation that offered to match egg donors with recipients.

However, when she collected payment from the recipients, she simply spent it herself, instead of compensating a half-dozen women in Missouri and elsewhere.

Her sentencing for one count of wire fraud has been set for March 16. The maximum penalty for that would be 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.
