After their mother took away their beer because they were underage, a daughter and son allegedly beat her up, leaving her bleeding, scratched and bruised, and then fled from the house before the police arrived, Sgt. Mike Hundelt of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department confirms.
Brittany M. Ferguson, 20, and Lindell K. Ferguson, 18, both of Fayetteville, were each charged with multiple counts of domestic battery after their 42-year-old mother was discovered on November 22 bleeding profusely from her nose, with her left eye blackened and swollen and her arm scratched up, according to the Belleville News-Democrat, which broke the story yesterday.
When the police came to the aid of the mother, she told them that she threw out several cans of Bud Light from the refrigerator because Brittany Ferguson was too young to drink, said police. Brittany, allegedly, wasn't having it, so she jumped her mother. Lindell apparently joined his sister in the attack.
States Attorney Brendan Kelly filed charges against the Ferguson kids on November 30. Kelly alleges that Brittany Ferguson struck her mom in the face with a piece of trim, punched her in the face and kicked her about the body. The complaint also suggests that she scratched another member of the household in the arm.
Kelly alleges that Lindell Ferguson elbowed his mom in the face and punched the other man in the face.
Each sibling is being held in the St. Clair County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
