On Friday, we reported that the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office had charged seventeen-year-old Lamont Campbell with first-degree murder in the killing of Leonard Gregory III.

Now Daily RFT has new details on the case. According to the probable cause statement, two neighborhood witnesses told police they saw the diminutive (5'-0") Campbell shoot Gregory point-blank in the predawn hours of July 17 after the victim had crashed his SUV.

Below is a copy of the statement that St. Louis police officer Jimmy Hyatt presented to prosecutors.

Campbell was being held Friday on a $500,000 cash-only bond. The 29-year-old Gregory is the son of a retired St. Louis police officer who retired in 2002 after 30 years on the force.
