Stephen Williams: St. Louis Homicide No. 42; Shot In Home Invasion

Stephen Williams, 45, was killed yesterday in an early-morning invasion of his south St. Louis apartment.

According to police, Williams was awakened around 4 a.m. Tuesday and greeted by two suspects armed with guns who burst into residence in the 5600 block of South Grand (above).

The suspects, described as two black males, demanded cash from Williams and then shot him in the neck before fleeing the scene. A neighbor was then injured when he opened the door of his apartment after hearing the gunshot and the suspects fired at him. The witness was struck by wood fragments from the door and treated for minor injuries at an area hospital.

Police believe that Williams likely knew his killers. An investigation is ongoing.
