Mizzou's New Basketball Coach: Who The Hell?

After courting some of the biggest names in college basketball, the University of Missouri has hired a man who's spent the past seven seasons toiling in relative obscurity.

Frank Haith, the coach at the University of Miami, was offered the Mizzou job over the weekend. Haith has a rather mediocre record with the Hurricanes, with a 43-69 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference over seven years, compiling an overall record of 129-101. He's taken the Hurricanes to the NCAA tourney once.

No word yet on what Mizzou will pay Haith, but he certainly comes at a discount compared to the $2 million the school threw at Mike Anderson in the hopes of keeping him from leaving. The university later waved the same sum -- or more -- in front of Purdue's Matt Painter, to no avail.

Criticism over the hire abounds on the Internets. But apparently MU's athletic director, Mike Alden, has faith in Haith. Prior to moving to Miami, Haith was the associate head coach at University of Texas and the team's top recruiter.
