Today's comment comes in response (and in support) of a post about how state Senator Rob Schaaf plans to filibuster -- if need -- be to block a ban on the over-the-counter sale of pseudoephedrine
, the cold medicine that is the key ingredient in meth.
Writes Wayne Turner
The need governments have to look like they are "doing something about a problem" results in so much waste of time and energy just so during the next election cycle someone can say "I stopped meth!" This frustrates me no end.
As another commenter stated, it is coming over from Mexico by the POUNDS and some politician is thinking they are going to impact this by making allergy sufferers jump through more hoops to get a legal OTC medication?
It is all ridiculousness, and reminds of when in Phoenix years ago the mayor wanted to pass a city ordinance that you can't bring a concealed weapon onto school grounds. Since whoever is doing that is ALREADY COMMITTING A FELONY do you think that they give two shakes about whether they are ALSO "violating a city ordinance"?? I mean, they could get a TICKET for that after all! As I said, it was all so in the next election cycle the idiot could say that he "did what he could to keep guns out of our schools". But in reality it did nothing, just like this new law would.
Politicians: Stop trying to LOOK like you are doing something and instead, DO something.
