Washington University announced today that it will soon be $25 million richer, thanks to a generous gift from the founder of Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Jack Taylor.
The money will go toward undergraduate scholarships. Taylor made a similar $25 million gift in 2001 -- the largest scholarship donation ever made to the school.
"A gift such as this is a transformative one," said Wash U. chancellor Mark Wrighton in a statement today. "While we can measure the impact in terms of numbers of students we help, the true benefits are immeasurable and will have lasting effect."
