A twenty-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and first-degree assault in a bizarre hunting mishap yesterday in Byrnes Mill, Missouri -- some 25 miles southwest of St. Louis.

Jared Winters was reportedly hunting with a 15-year-old friend in the woods near their homes in Jefferson County when he shot the teen with an arrow to the face. Bow-hunting season for deer and turkey in Missouri opened September 15.

The boy was taken to St. Anthony's Medical Center in south St. Louis County where he died from his wounds over night. Winters remains in custody this morning.
