A study by the Washington-based Election Data Services predicts that Missouri will lose one of its nine Congressional seats once U.S. Census figures are officially tallied later this year.

If Missouri does lose a seat, it could be a boon to Republicans as it's up to state lawmakers in the GOP-controlled legislature to redraw district maps. All told, some 18 states are expected to face some change among the nation's 435 Congressional districts.

The biggest winners could be Texas and Florida, which are expected to gain four and two seats, respectively. New York could lose two seats.
