Unlike Ed Martin's faux debates last month (that he scheduled before giving Russ Carnahan time to respond), the Republican and Democratic congressional candidates have agreed to a pair of face-offs for later this month.

The debates hosted by the League of Women Voters will also include the candidates of the Constitution and Libertarian parties. The first face off happens September 24 at Forest Park Community College. The second is set for September 26 at the Arnold Recreation Center.

In a statement, Carnahan said he reached out to the League of Women Voters because they're the "gold-standard" for organizing political debates. On Martin's website his press secretary Theresa Petry said of the debates for this month: "Hopefully Congressman Carnahan stays true to his word this time and joins Ed Martin as he continues to openly address questions concerning constituents."
