St. Louis City Hall was transformed into something of a smooth-jazz lounge last night as Board of Alderman President Lewis Reed hosted a "Homecoming Celebration" for boxer Devon Alexander.

The 23-year-old St. Louis native will defend his WBC and IBF world junior welterweight boxing titles Saturday night at Scottrade Center in a bout that will be broadcast on HBO. (Ticket are still available here.)

On hand last night to welcome Alexander home were such local dignitaries as...

Chuck Berry, Cedric the Entertainer and Sen. Claire McCaskill. Also spied at last night's soiree: St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley, KMOX's Charlie Brennan, State Sen. Joe Keaveny, aldermen Steve Conway, Freeman Bosley Sr. and Craig Schmid, Alive Magazine's Attilio D'Agostino, KSDK's Mike Owen, rapper Yung Ro and Blueberry Hill's Joe Edwards.
