Juan Almanza: St. Louis Homicide No. 68; Gunned Down By Men on Bikes

What's up with gunmen on bicycles? A month ago two men on bikes fired at another group of cyclists in south St. Louis. Now, a few blocks away from that incident, gunmen on bikes have struck again. This time killing a man.

Police report that Juan Almanza, 37, was sitting on a front porch in the 3100 block of Utah (above) around 1:27 a.m. Sunday when two men on bikes stopped by and started an argument.

One of the bicyclists then pulled out a gun and shot Almanza and another man sitting on the porch. Almanza was struck multiple times, including a shot to the head. The other victim, 35, was hit in the leg and is listed in serious condition.
