Chesterfield Preteen Competes On Jeopardy!, Poses for Awkward Picture With Alex Trebek

Chesterfield twelve-year-old Molly Gier is one of fifteen preteens selected by Jeopardy! producers to take part in the program's annual "Kids Week" competition. A press release Daily RFT received last week calls Gier one of "the nation's brightest ten to twelve-year-olds" and bills the show as "a celebration of youth and academic excellence."

Gier's episodes are scheduled to air next week (July 5 through 9), and she stands to win $15,000 and an all-expenses-paid, week-long family vacation to one of five exotic locales. But whether she takes home the top prize or not, Gier has already scored this priceless picture of herself and Alex Trebek's sly smirk:
