failed to show up for work Monday morning, prompting family members to call police to ask that they check in on the 27-year-old Wellston resident.
Officers with the Wellston and St. Louis County police arrived at Brown's home in the 1800 block of Irving around 9 a.m. June 21 to find his bruised and battered body -- the apparent victim of a beating with a "blunt object."
Missing from the home was Brown's 2006 Cadillac STS
-- a vehicle that would turn up later this week in Springfield, Missouri, with Brown's friend, Robert Doll
, behind the wheel.
Yesterday the St. Louis County Prosecutor's Office charged Doll, 32, with one count of murder and another count of armed criminal action. Police say they don't have a motive for the homicide, but do confirm that Doll and the suspect were "friends."
Doll, of the 3800 block of Bates in south St. Louis, is being held without bond.
