Ashley Oliver: Murdered on Interstate in East St. Louis, Shooter Tommie Hill Then Kills Himself

Can you imagine the scene yesterday on Interstate 64 just east of the Poplar Street Bridge?

Ashley Oliver, 25, of Cahokia and her boyfriend Tommie Hill, 25, of East St. Louis were in a heated argument around 2 p.m. yesterday while crossing the river into East St. Louis. Then all hell broke loose.

According to reports, Hill stopped the car, pulled out a handgun and shot Oliver point blank. In the back seat of Hill's red Oldsmobile Alero sat his seven-year-old daughter who witnessed everything that happened next.

Shot in the arm, Oliver jumped out of the vehicle and ran through traffic with Hill closing in on her trail. As she pleaded with confused motorists to assist her, Hill walked up behind Oliver and shot her dead in the middle lane of the interstate. He then turned the gun on himself, committing suicide.

Eastbound I-64 was closed until nearly 5 p.m. as police gathered evidence. Hills mother said that her son and Oliver had a "rocky relationship." Uh, yeah.

Oliver's killing was the 14th homicide of the year in East St. Louis.
