St. Louis police on Tuesday arrested 17-year-old Brendan N. Young for the April 17 murder of 24-year-old Alvin Dees.

On Wednesday, St. Louis prosecutors charged Young, of the 2400 block of Kienlan Avenue in Pine Lawn, with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He's being held without bond.

According to police, Young was in a silver Pontiac Grand Prix that fired shots that killed Dees as he walked down the 4400 block of Athlone in north St. Louis around 7:30 p.m. April 17. Dees had survived two previous gunshots -- one in 2006 the other in 2008.

In today's Post-Dispatch, 21st Ward Alderman Antonio French, praised police and community members for providing details leading to Young's capture.
